Amy Schumer, from Comedy Central, enjoys a limited run at the Palace this week in “Trainwreck.”

Playing Sunday through Thursday only, September 13 through 17 at 7 pm, and Monday, September 14 at 2 pm, “Trainwreck” is rated R for strong sexual content, including nudity, language, and some drug use. Definitely not for everyone, but Judd Apatow fans (“Bridesmaids,” “40-Year-Old Virgin”) will know what to expect.

If you’re a tabloid reader you’ll know that Jennifer Lawrence’s new bestie, Amy Schumer, is all the rage. Ms. Schumer wrote this screen play, and it definitely has some autobiographical tendencies. Amy grew up in Long Island, her parents divorced, her dad has MS.

In “Trainwreck,” much is the same. Main character Amy is told by her father at a young age, “Monogamy isn’t realistic,” and she takes his word for it. 23 years later she’s living that life. Until she encounters Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader’s character, Aaron. Now Amy has some soul searching to do.

OLIVER!

Please note, our regular schedule is adjusted this week and next due to ACT I’s wonderful stage production of “Oliver!” Tickets for this classic musical featuring the return of Larry Adams-Bower as Fagin, Vinton-Shellsburg music director Michala Martin, and many area youth players, may be purchased at www.act1.org.
