"Oliver" is a special musical, director Steve Arnold told the audience at the beginning of Friday's show.
ACT 1's 1997 production of the musical based on the Dickens novel "Oliver Twist" was the beginning of the fund-raising campaign to restor the Palace Theatre. That successful campaign resulted in the re-opening of the Palace for stage and screen entertainment, and now the auditorium is filled with stadium seating and a new silver screen allows the showing of 3D movies.
The Palace was mostly full Friday, although ACT 1 members say there's room for more people to come see the final two performances, at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
