“The movie is as relentless as the train, slowly gathering momentum before a relentless final hour of continuous suspense. In terms of sheer craftsmanship, this is a superb film.” Roger Ebert.
“Unstoppable” with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, plays the Palace Friday, December 17 through Thursday, December 23 at 7 p.m. nightly and Monday, December 20 at 2 p.m. This non-stop thriller is rated PG-13 for action, peril and language.
FREE SMALL POPCORN FOR ALL LADIES WHO ATTEND! I shouldn’t do this because Denzel is hot and the ladies will come anyway. Unlike those unenlightened men who boycott chick flicks! But it’s Christmas, and everybody knows women work so much harder than men to make the holidays special. You deserve it, girls!
A massive unmanned locomotive, nicknamed “The Beast” and loaded with toxic cargo, roars through the countryside, vaporizing anything put in front of it. A veteran engineer (Washington) and a young conductor (Pine), aboard another train in the runaway’s path, devise an incredible plan to try and stop it—and prevent certain disaster in a heavily populated area.
“The photography and sound here are very effective in establishing that a train is an enormously heavy thing, and once in motion wants to continue. We knew that. But Scott all but crushes us with the weight of the juggernaut. We are spellbound. And we sure hope those little kids are saved.” Ebert again
