“We Bought a Zoo” plays the Palace Friday, January 27 through Thursday, February 2 at 7 p.m. every night, with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday, January 28 and Monday, January 30.

“Zoo” is rated PG for language and thematic elements and runs just over two hours.  Despite the title inference, this is not a fuzzy, furry Dr. Doolittle-type film.  According loyal patron and budding film critic Jeff Peterson, who caught the movie out of town over the holidays, “Zoo” is a very engaging, thoughtful story about a man recently widowed and raising two kids on his own.  It is not the funny animal adventure Jeff expected.

So, bring the family, but maybe not the teeny tiny seat wiggley ones.

CHAIR CLUB UPDATE

Donations continue to arrive every day and we have now raised more than $15,000 toward our goal of $35,000 for new seats. Thanks so much for your generous contributions! Donation forms and information may be found in the lobby of the theatre, or call or email and I will send info to you directly.

Two things – no, the balcony VIP seats will not be gold. That is the sample seat made available for patrons to check out the comfort level. Ger and I pulled it into the auditorium to watch “Sherlock Holmes.” Very, very nice. The new balcony seats will be black leather, the main floor seats – dark red pleather. Same models as on display, different colors.

If you don’t think you’ll like a pleather seat, do two things for me – visit the New Strand theatre at West Liberty and try out their seats, and stop in or email to ask me about cleaning the current seats. I won’t take up column space with those horror stories!

And yes, we will sell you the old seats for your home theatre! We are now taking orders. Seats may be purchased for $50 each. Particular seat numbers may be requested. We will honor requests on a first-come first-serve basis. Send an email, call or stop in with your name, seat preferences, and phone number.
