Monday matinee patrons at the Palace Theatre left disappointed when a technical problem with the digital projector forced on-duty managers, myself and Lu Karr, to cancel the 2 p.m. showing of “The Descendants.”
Basically, I pushed the start button and nothing happened. I then called, texted and emailed Gerald. He returned my call immediately and walked me through shutting down the projector and rebooting. Again, nothing.
The four critical alarms posted on the computer screen noted a power failure.
I then called Sonic Equipment and worked with Roger the tech guy to open up the projector and pull out the control cards. To do this I had to take off my shoes and stand on my desk. Roger soon learned I needed him to refer to cords, buttons and knobs by their shape and color, and he and I together spent over an hour trouble shooting, to no avail.
Gerald came home early from work to repeat the process, again with no success.
At this point we are expecting a Sonic technician and will know more later today, Tuesday, March 6. Please check the Palace Facebook page, website (www.vintonpalace.org) or call the Info Line (472-9958).
I will be showing a matinee of “The Descendants” on Wednesday, March 7 at 2 p.m. Thanks to our patrons for their patience and understanding!
