Registration is open for the educational gardening series

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Master Gardener program will again host its annual Home Gardening Webinar Series, which will begin in January 2026 and end in March. Sessions will take place every Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. CT, concluding on March 12.

Designed for anyone interested in gardening or horticulture, the series aims to inspire and educate. Throughout the series, participants will hear from horticulture experts at Iowa State University, Colorado State University and commercial growers in Iowa. The sessions are available at no cost to viewers and open to the public. Attendees can register to join through Zoom or via Facebook Live.

January sessions will cover gardening for wildlife, recommended vegetable cultivars for Iowa, growing garlic and proper perennial placement in the landscape. February will feature green roofs for home gardeners, DIY soil health monitoring tests, landscaping with native trees and shrubs and how to grow cut flowers. In March, the series will conclude with two presentations about landscape design. The first will cover plant selections for sensory gardens, while the second tackles designing pollinator gardens.

“The Home Gardening Webinar Series is for everyone, regardless of gardening experience,” said Alicia Herzog, Iowa Master Gardener program manager with ISU Extension and Outreach.

“The topics chosen are based on survey responses from last year’s participants and will appeal to a wide range of viewers. This program is always a joy to present, and we look forward to another great season.”

The series offers a valuable educational opportunity for existing Master Gardeners, those interested in becoming Master Gardeners and those who enjoy simply listening and learning more about gardening.

All webinars will be held live and include a question-and-answer session at the end. Zoom participation is limited to the first 500 attendees. Attendees will be directed to Facebook Live if the Zoom room is at capacity. Registration cannot be taken over the phone or through email.
