THRIFTING FOR A GOOD CAUSE:
CENTER POINT LIBRARY FRIENDS
USED BOOK SALE JUNE 20 AND 21
Friends of the Center Point Library was thrifting before thrifting was cool.
For going on 20 years Friends has been fundraising for the library and the main fundraiser has always been the annual used book sale.
The annual Used Book Sale is Ultimate Thrifting. It's super inexpensive. It's recycling. It's fun.
Here's the inexpensive part. Adult hardcover books - $1; paperbacks - 50 cents; all kid books - 25 cents; DVDs and audios - $1.
Here's the recycling part. The used books, donated by the community or taken off the shelves by the library to make room for new, can find new homes instead of tragically ending up in the landfill. After the sale, Friends also gives away as many of the leftover books as possible to nursing homes, charitable organizations, etc.
Here's the fun part: The Book Sale has been an annual event for so long that it's become kind of a yearly reunion. And on Saturday morning Friends serves free coffee and homemade treats to go along with the "visiting."
The Book Sale will be in the little basement of the library Friday, June 20, 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Saturday, June 21, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
