Reynolds issues statement on ‘Families First Bill’

Governor Kim Reynolds released the following statement in response to both the Iowa House and Senate passing HF 889, a bill to provide four weeks of paid maternity leave and one week of paid paternity leave for state employees: “After working on it for three years, the families first bill is finally headed to my desk,” said Gov. Reynolds. “Thank you to the House and Senate for passing this bill to give state employees paid parental leave, joining 24 other states and the federal government.

Bill limiting Firework Laws approved before America's 250th Birthday

A bill was passed by the Iowa House on Monday, May 12 which limits the local government's ability to restrict the use of fireworks. This will allow the state to participate in the celebration of the country's 250th birthday celebrations in 2026.Senate File 303 passed in the Iowa House by a 51-39 vote which sends the bill to the Governor's desk.
