Vinton Shellsburg Salutes our Veterans
Hands down, one of the best events that Vinton-Shellsburg provides for the community is the annual Veterans Assembly. Denny Miller added the finishing touch to the table set for the POW/MIA veterans at the beginning of the ceremony, always a touching moment. As I snapped photos, I realized that I was trying to capture the feeling of the assembly via the clicks of the camera, at the same time knowing that I simply couldn't do it justice. 2024 Virginia Gay Hospital Legacy Award Recipient: Don Logan

The annual Veterans Day Assembly will be held on Monday, November 11th at 9 AM.Vinton-Shellsburg is hosting our annual community-wide Veterans Day Assembly at the Middle School. Any and All Veterans are encouraged to attend. Benton County Veteran Affairs collecting donations for Veteran Christmas Dinner
This year instead of our usual appreciation breakfast/dinner, the local Veterans Affairs office will be offering Christmas Baskets. These baskets or bags will have everything in them that a veteran will need to have a Christmas dinner with their family (roughly a family of 6). We are asking for donations to help fill these. Donations needed include your basic sides of corn, green beans, cranberries, potatoes, gravy mix and stuffing. Friends of the Vinton Public Library raise funds for shelving
The Friends of the Vinton Public Library is raising funds to purchase new mobile shelving for our children's library! The shelving will give space for more books and will allow us to make room for even more kids during our programs! Stop into our Reading Room and check out our poster tracking the progress of the fundraiser. So far they've raised $5,000 toward their goal!!
