River enthusiasts, local artists and the committee which worked for more than a year to document the history of the Cedar River gathered at Celebration Park for the unveiling of the new display on Friday evening. The display includes a variety of history and other lessons about the portion of the Red Cedar River that winds through Benton County. Committee members first began researching the project with a river canoe and boat ride in May of 2015. The event also included a frog-judging contest and an opportunity for youngsters to catch a few small fish.

The history of Minne Estema, a review of major floods, a display of fish and other wildlife found in the river, and a list of some unique and almost-forgotten places along the river are included in the 72-foot-long display.
