News : Freedom Rock painting expected soon

Moved to near the Shellsburg Legion Hall in April of 2015, the Benton County Freedom rock will soon be painted. While Ray "Bubba" Sorensen II works in private, and the dates of the painting of a "Freedom Rock" are never announced, area veterans believe the painting of the Benton County Freedom Rock next to the Shellsburg Legion Hall will begin soon. In April of 2015, the rock was moved from Urbana to Shellsburg. Fund-raisers and donations, along with ideas for what images to include on the rock, have come in since then. There will be a celebration when the rock is completed.
