"Best Day Ever!" Tilford teachers of Kindergarten and First Grade students heard those words several times on Tuesday as the students took turns riding on fire trucks, as part of the traditional Fire Prevention Week activities. The students climbed to the top of the trucks for a ride through Vinton, from the school to downtown 4th Street, before receiving Junior Firefighter helmets and posing for photos.
"One of the boys did a talking tour for me," says Firefighter Rick Voss, who was one of several to join the students on the ride."Just a few of his comments included: That is Head Start. It has three year old preschool. That's the court house. Look at people waving. We just went by the theater. Oh look, look! It's the A&W! I ate there! You know why I know all this stuff? I live here!"
