News : Driver dies from injuries sustained in accident south of Blairstown

The Benton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single vehicle accident that happened approximately one-half mile south of Blairstown on 21st Ave at 6:50 a.m. this morning. The vehicle was being driven southbound on 21st Ave when the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer. The driver lost control going into the west ditch hitting a driveway going airborne coming to rest in the ditch on the other side of the driveway. The driver, Laffite Pierre age: 44 of Blairstown was transported to Marengo Hospital, by Blairstown Ambulance then to University Hospitals in Iowa City with serious injuries. Blairstown Fire also assisted at the scene. The investigation is continuing by the Benton County Sheriff's Office. November 16, 2016 10:50 am. - Update- The driver, Laffite Pierre, died this morning at University Hospitals in Iowa City from his injuries suffered in the accident.
