News : VS swimming: Vikings lose close meet to Oskaloosa, 48-45

Junior Tyler Hekel finished 2nd in the 100 backstroke for the VS Vikings swim team vs. Oskaloosa. The Vinton-Shellsburg boys swim team hosted Oskaloosa on Tuesday, coming up just short on a total team score of 48-45. Winners for VS include freshman Cyrus Elwick in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle, and Ryan Levis in the 100-yard breaststroke. Coach Rob Levis says the Vikings normally compete against swimmers from larger schools; the lack of indoor pools prohibits most smaller schools from being able to participate.
