News : NE District Greenhand Fire-Up

By: Shelby McDonald, V-S FFA Co-Reporter On October 4th the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter had 17 Greenhand members attend the district Greenhand Fire Up. This event was held at Wapsie Valley High school in Fairbank. This night was for our first year members to get a better idea of FFA from our district and state officers, as well as get to know some new people that they may see at other actives. This is a great opportunity to learn different things that happen in FFA, and ask any questions they may have.   They start the night out by listening to opening ceremonies, then they are split into different groups where they went to different class rooms around the school and play different games while learning that each of these games/activities have a meaning to it, which could help them with their FFA career.   They were also given a very good meal of pulled pork, and then they head back to the auditorium for closing ceremonies. They arrived home around 10 pm that night.
