News : Illinois man arrested on marijuana charges near Urbana

By Jerry Michael, Urbana Chief of Police On January 1, 2018 at 10:22 am an Urbana Police Officer observed a Gray Hyundai Sonata that was traveling northbound speeding 89 mph in a 70 mph zone at the 41 mm on I-380. The officer stopped the vehicle and the driver was identified as Diondre Jennings, 20 years old from Calumet City, Illinois. The officer noticed a strong smell from marijuana coming from the vehicle. Upon further investigation the officer located marijuana inside the vehicle. Jennings was taken into custody and charged with the following:

1. Speeding 89 mph in a 70 mph zone
2. Driving with a suspended license
3. Driving with no insurance
4. Possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.

Jennings remains in the Benton County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
