It was seven months ago this week that Heidi Kersten received the disturbing call that her dog had been hit by a car, and then returned home to find that a hit-and-run driver had lost control and the vehicle damaged her fence and one of the electrical boxes. The dog then escaped the yard through the broken fence, and was hit by a separate vehicle.
Heidi recently found out that insurance will not cover the cost of the damage; she estimates that it will take $1,000 or so to get the electrical box functional so she can start setting up the 2018 light display.
A donation account to help Heidi pay for the repairs so she can begin working soon on the light display is being set up at Farmers Savings Bank in Vinton. There is also a Go Fund Me page for this need, and to help Heidi maintain the display first created by her father, Larry, around 1965. See that Go Fund Me page HERE.
