The official report of what happened on Sept. 7, when Lyle Arthur "Artie" Fowler II, pointed a weapon at law enforcement officials, and fired once, has now been made public.
The report outlines how Fowler had fired his weapon in the house several times, shooting a cell phone, before officers arrived, and how he pointed both a pistol and an AR-15 rifle in the direction of Vinton police personnel, and fired one round toward a truck parked near the residence.
The report also concludes that Vinton police Sgt. Ben Parmater and officer Katlyn Schimerowski were "legally justified and reasonable" in firing their weapons after Fowler fired the rifle. It also includes comments from Fowler, who told authorities they should have shot him and would have been justified in doing so.
Benton County Attorney David Thompson released the official report today.
Fowler remains in Benton County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
