Members of the American Legion place Flags for Memorial Day

Flags are flying at the Evergreen Cemetery to honor the Veterans we've lost

The American Legion performed the solemn duty of placing flags on each of the graves of a Veteran buried at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial Day is specifically to remember those who died in active military service to our country.�

Memorial Day activities are listed below:

8:00 a.m.

On Monday, May 27, Memorial Day beginning at 8:00 a.m. the American Legion will hold a combined service for Maplewood and St. Mary's Cemetery in the south driveway of Maplewood.

�8:30 a.m. there will be a service at Evergreen Cemetery.

10:00 a.m. the Legion will march to the bridge starting by the old Legion building accompanied by the Vinton Shellsburg marching band.

11:00 a.m. there will be a program at the Veterans Memorial Park.

If it is raining at the start time of any of these events, the event will be canceled.

Bear Creek Cemetery

Where: South of Brandon on 26th Ave

Coffee, juice and rolls will be available at the church from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m.

There will be a service at the cemetery which will begin at 9:00. This will include a name reading of the veterans buried in the cemetery.
