Reminder: Deadline is
Friday, May 31.
Would you like to represent Vinton as a member of the 2019 Sesquicentennial Royalty and help us make history? The Sesquicentennial Committee is currently taking applications for the royalty. The Queen and a runner-up(s) will serve as the court for Vinton’s 150th anniversary celebration, which will be held from August 17-24, 2019. If you are a female 16-20 years of age as of May 31, 2019, you are encouraged to enter the competition.
** We are hoping to bring back a bit of Vinton’s history by holding this contest. Starting in 1929, Vinton had a Sweet Corn Days Queen and court but the contest has not been held since 1959. **

Candidates will meet new people, gain self-confidence and enjoy a memorable experience while representing Vinton. Contestants must be current or past students of the Vinton-Shellsburg Community Schools or home-schooled, and must have a Vinton 52349 address.

** Scholarships will be awarded to the queen and her court **

Entry materials are available at the Vinton Unlimited office, Cameron’s Clothing or Vinton-Shellsburg High School.

AO May 30, 2019, 6:23 pm Sesquicentennial? And you only want YOUNG girls? I think you should pick someone who would best represent the whole time frame, like pick the oldest candidate who could tell you the most about Vinton's history. THAT would be a true queen representative!
