Another frequent question from potential iVinton customers asks about data caps and overage fees. With iVinton there won’t be any. No data cap. No overage fees. None.
Can we be any clearer on that topic?
Because that answer is so short, maybe we can take a moment or two to explore the concept of broadband in general.
A good analogy for broadband service is to think of lanes of a highway. A two-lane highway with a speed limit of 70 mph won’t move as much traffic as a four-lane highway with the same speed limit. That’s why speed alone isn’t a good measure for understanding the quality of the internet service you’re receiving, or for calculating how long it will take to drive somewhere.
For many of us in Vinton, there are times of the day when our speed might be OK, but others when it gets pretty slow. Traffic can slow down when there are more users online, just like traffic sometimes slows down below the posted speed limit on a two-lane highway.
With the new fiber-based, high-speed broadband system Vinton is building, the speed will be at the limit of the plan you purchase, all the time. That’s because the new system will be like a multi-lane highway. It will almost be as though lanes are added as the number of users grows.
Wouldn’t that be great for car travel? Your own lane on the highway!
