Are you a space nerd, or do you just want to see something awesome? Tonight, as soon as it gets dark, look up and you'll see a rare sight: Seven planets all in alignment. Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Neptune and Uranus. Technically only the first five are bright enough to spot with just your eyes. You'll need binoculars or a telescope to see Neptune and Uranus.
The planet parade will look like a line of bright stars. The planets will be visible in the western part of the sky. And you probably won't be able to see them in town with the lights so you'll need to get out of town where it's really dark.
If you're fortunate enough to capture a great photo that you'd like to share, zap it to my email at vintontoday@hotmail.com or you can text it to 319-202-4125 and I'll gladly share it with the readers and credit the photographer of course!
To see the last two of the planets, try the smartphone app called, Stellarium or the Star Walk App to help viewing the planet parade.
