A week ago, Vinton Today had an S.O.S. call come in from the 4th St. Diner. The Diner is where our senior citizens meet for a noontime meal and some fellowship, or if needed the Diner provides meals to those who can't leave the house.

We put out an urgent request for an upright freezer because the one in the kitchen had just died. The request was originally just for an used one that worked to help fill the gap.

The same day that the request went out, on Vinton Today, several people reached out to help the Diner fill the need and a new freezer was on its way!

Linda Lough, North Benton Senior Dining Manager said the new freezer was purchased by Sylvia Merchant's family and James Mahurin. "We would like to express our gratitude to everyone involved in the donation. It is amazing that under 48 hours of posting our need for a freezer on Vinton Today, a new one was installed, and the old unit was removed. Our hearts are full!"

Thank you to VT readers for helping our senior residents by lending a hand to the 4th St. Diner! You're the best!
