The Benton County American Legion presented local students with various scholarships and awards.  

Opening the ceremony was Michael Naylor, the Benton County Commander who presented the scholarships along with Chair Doug Anderson.

The Legion Scholarship Committee was made up of six representatives including, Michael Naylor the Benton County Commander, Doug Anderson of Newhall and also the Chair, Fritz Noren of Vinton, Rick Peterson of Belle Plaine, Paul Louis of Atkins and Ed Shaeffer of Shellsburg.

Those who received scholarships were:

Harleen Kaur, Belle Plaine Post, Belle Plaine Community High School

Lauren Frush, Blairstown Post, Benton Community High School

Olivia McDaniel, Shellsburg Post, Vinton-Shellsburg High School

Gracyn Kingsbury, Vinton Post, Vinton-Shellsburg High School

The Auxilary Awards Committee consists of Mari Grieder, Benton County Auxilary President, Sharon Koster, Chair, Blairstown Unit 170, Susan Noren, of Vinton Unit 57 and Janet Knaack of Van Horne Unit 148. They awarded Merit Awards to the following students:
