Sam Schmidt plays guitar for 8th grade's 'Walk the Line.'
Vinton-Shellsburg choir students honored their first music teacher and their current director at the end of the annual VS Choral Night Monday.
Elementary music teacher Connie Zenk is reiting at the end of the school year. Choir members presented her a bouquet of flowers and senior Nick Gardner thanked Mrs. Zenk for teaching them to love music and for teaching them well.
Mr. Eric Mohlis, who has been the VSHS choir director for three years, is leaving to pursue his Master's Degree. Choir members also honored him with a bouquet and words of tribute, as well as a large spontaneous group hug at the end of the concert.
The event included performances by the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade choirs, as well as a combined Middle School choir. The high school's Treble Voices (freshman girls), Chamber Choir and Concert Choir also performed.
Mrs. Lois Martin directed the Middle School choirs; April Ahrenholtz accompanied the Middle School singers on the piano while Lori Ferguson was the accompanist for the high school singers.
