VAN HORNE: Gary W. Cohrt, 60, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at MercyMedicalCenterin Cedar Rapidsfollowing an extended illness.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Van Horne City Park. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Garywas born November 27, 1952 in Belle Plaine to Edward and Martha (Furler) Cohrt and graduated from BentonCommunityHigh Schoolin 1971.
Garyhad owned the Van Horne Lounge and served as Plant Manager of Farm Service in Vinton for many years. He loved Harley-Davidson Motor Cycles.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Adam) Kaiser of Van Horne; his granddaughter, Laurynn; his mother, Martha Cohrt of Vinton; his brother, Michael (Kathy) Cohrt of Shellsburg; and his sisters, Joyce Thompson of Ellsworth, WI, and Janet (Joe) Cohrt of Beloit, WI
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward "Red" Cohrt and his brother, Terry Cohrt.
