Michael Hansen, 73, of Dysart, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2013 from 3 to 7 PM and for an hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in Dysart Cemetery.

Michael Duane Hansen was born on December 25, 1940, the son of Eldred and Marian Hansen, at the family home in Vinton, Iowa. He grew up in Vinton and graduated from Washington High.
On October 14, 1962, Mike was united in marriage to Pat Feuerbach in Dysart. The couple made their home in Dysart.
Mike worked for the city of Dysart for 13 years, the Tama Benton Cooperative for 13 years, and the Union Community School District for 13 years. After his retirement, Mike drove the special needs preschool van for seven years. He was a member of the Dysart Jaycees, Cedar Valley Corvette Club, Yankee Riders Saddle Club, and Zion Lutheran Church.
Mike’s kids and grandkids were his pride and joy. They were very important to him. He loved talking and kidding with them. He was so proud of them and enjoyed attending their sporting events. Mike also enjoyed their “Family Friday Nights.” Every Friday night all of the kids and grandkids would come for supper. This was a time to catch up on all of their weekly happenings. Mike loved fishing and hunting. He hunted deer, turkey, fox, and coyote. One of his later highlights in life was driving his Corvette and belonging to the Cedar Valley Corvette Club. Mike also loved his daily devotions and reading the Bible with Pat.
Mike is survived by his wife; four children, Wendee (Mark) Goken of Dysart, Shelly Hansen of Ankeny, Chad (Sarah) Hansen of Dysart and Curt (Aubri) Hansen of Dysart; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Doris) Hansen of Cedar Rapids and Jon (Suha) Hansen of Urbana; a sister, Norine Cromwell of Dysart; his mother in law, Kathleen Feuerbach; and special friends Kathy Lively and Pastor Jim Radatz. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers in law, Tom Cromwell and Norm Knoop, a sister in law, Judy Knoop; and his father in law, Dilver Feuerbach. Mike will be missed but never forgotten.
