VINTON:  Linda Jeanne Stewart, 66, died Friday, September 12, 2014 at Virginia Gay Hospital following a sudden illness. 

            A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Vinton with Pastor Connie Wacht officiating.  Friends may call from 10:30 AM until service time at the church. A memorial fund has been established.

            Linda was born August 15, 1948 to Eber “Shorty” and Evelyn (Nelson) Phelps.  She graduated from Urbana High School in 1966.  She married LeRoy James Stewart and he preceded her in death in 2012. 

            Linda worked as a Courier for APAC and as a cook at Joensy’s in Center Point. She also drove a semi for Schneider Trucking for a short time.  Linda enjoyed cooking, baking and crocheting.  She was also a talented cake decorator.

            Linda is survived by her daughters, Mandra (Michael) Techau of Stanwood and Melinda (Lawrence) Talbott of Vinton; her grandchildren, Chase and Colton Stewart, Shayanna and Shayne Rice, Tiffanie (Jason) Symmonds, and Shayla Techau; her great grandson, Hunter Stewart; her brothers, Ron (Patty) Phelps and Lawrence Phelps, all of Vinton; her sisters, Shirley Taulbee of Warsaw, KY, Sharon (Gary) Schneekloth of Denver, CO, Janet (Loren) Lovell, Mary (Doug) Bell, and Lora (Okee) Walker, all of Vinton, and Nora (Arnie) Vaupel of Urbana; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

           In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shayna; her granddaughter Shaylee; her brothers, David and Charles Phelps; and her sister, Diana Phelps.
