VINTON:     Mary Jeanne Fleming, 69, of Vinton, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton following an extended illness.

     Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2014 the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th St.) Vinton with Pastor Tom Fogle (Cedar Rapids) officiating.  Interment will be in the Garrison Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the First Baptist Church in Vinton.  Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., on Tuesday at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established for the Navigators.org, an international, interdenominational Christian ministry that helps people grow in Jesus Christ as they navigate through life.

     Mary Jeanne was born on  June 5, 1945 to Marion and Emily (Orr) Marolf (Hopkington). On November 28, 1980 she married Joseph Fleming, son of James and Donna Fleming (Garrison), at the Cedar Valley Bible Church in Cedar Rapids.

     Mary Jeanne graduated from Alburnette High School in 1963. She attended Marshalltown Community College and AIB in Des Moines and held clerical positions with several companies over the years, her last employment being with Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids as an executive secretary.

     In 1967 Mary Jeanne received Jesus Christ as her Savior and from that day forward faithfully served him by ministering to and encouraging others.  Her family and friends will most remember her for her kind and gentle spirit, even through times of physical adversity.

     Mary Jeanne is survived by her husband Joseph Fleming of Vinton; sister Marjorie (Darrell) Stimson of Davenport; brother Bruce (Patti) Marolf of Marion; and sister Maxine (Robert) Heath of Cedar Rapids.

     She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Stanley.
