VINTON: Charlotte I. Gray, 92, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Virginia Gay Hospital following an extended illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St, in Vinton, with Rev. Kären Larson officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM on Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established.

Charlotte was born August 14, 1918 in Jackson Township of Benton County to Elmer T. and Myrtle (Burkey) Clark and graduated from the Mount Auburn High School.

On December 28, 1937 she was united in marriage to Willard Richard Gray. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1987.

Charlotte was employed at Collins Radio until her retirement in 1971. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the Vinton Women's Club, and Navy Mothers for over twenty years. In her leisure she enjoyed embroidering, painting, crocheting, flower arranging, and sewing. Her greatest pleasure came from time spent with her family.

She is survived by her children, Joan L. Gray Peterson of Des Moines and Russell D. Gray, and daughter-in-law, Marjorie E. Gray of Geneseo, IL; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Gray of Vinton; seven grandchildren; three step-granddaughters; fifteen great-grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; and her brother, Leland Clark of Cedar Rapids.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald L. Gray and her grandson, Joe Gray; and her sisters, Dorothy Edler, and Bernice Clark.
