GARRISON -- Carol L. Auld, 76, of Belle Plaine, formerly of Garrison, died Sunday, December 12, 2010, at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton with The Rev. Ron Sumption officiating.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday.  Carol’s body will be cremated, and inurnment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, at a later date.

Carol was born July 5, 1934, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Byron and Faye Wenner Auld.  She graduated from high school in Vinton.

Carol worked as a clerk at Feller’s Dime Store in Vinton for many years.  She also worked at the Old Creamery Theater and the Amana Candy Shop.  She was a member of the Vinton Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed painting and traveling, having traveled to Europe several times.  She also enjoyed her dogs and collecting rocks.

Carol is survived by her aunt, Frances Mae Wenner Hilliard of Vinton; and her cousins: Wayne Hilliard and his wife, Carol, of Brandon; Bob Wenner of Marshalltown; Betty Jo Roberts and her husband, Sheridan, of Reinbeck; Louise Weise and Roger Wenner, both of Vinton; and Don Hilliard and his wife, Teri, of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two cousins, John and Dean Wenner.

A memorial fund has been established.
