Obituaries : Rita Kay McCartney

Rita Kay McCartney, 76, of Center Point, Iowa, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Rogers Grove Cemetery, Ely. Rita is survived by her daughter, Connie (Jim "Tiny") Takes of Center Point; a son, Brian of Marion; grandchildren, Zach (Katrina), Sydney, Brody and Brogan; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Nevaeh; three brothers, Jerry (Shirley) McAtee of Solon, Larry ( Marge) McAtee of Lisbon, and Duane (Anna) McAtee of Ely; brother-in-law, Ed Osborn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Rita is preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Zayden; her parents; her sister, Sharon Osborn; and brother, Gary McAtee. Rita was born on March 15, 1942, in rural Coggan, the daughter of Lloyd and Ina Miller McAtee. She was a 1960 graduate of Solon High School and a custodian for College Community School District from 1980 to 1996. Rita enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her sister, Sharon. Rita was a dedicated volunteer for all school and church functions. She will be remembered for always being concerned about others before herself, and spending time gambling.
