VINTON: Arlene June Floyd, 77, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at her residence following an brief illness.
Friends may call at Phillips Family Center, 605 2nd Ave. in Vinton, from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, January 26, 2011. To honor Arlene's wishes the casket will remain closed at all times and Private Funeral Services and Committal will be held. A memorial fund has been established for St. Luke's Hospice.
Arlene was born June 26, 1933 in rural Iowa County to Balmont and Minnie (Buelow) Schutterle and attended Vinton Schools.
On August 14, 1953 she was united in marriage to Leland A. Floyd at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton. Arlene loved spending nine months of the year at the couple's home on Leech Lake in Minnesota. For twenty-six years, she served as a bus driver for the Vinton-Shellsburg School District and retired in 1991. She loved flowers and feeding birds and trips to Dairy Queen for Strawberry Shakes.
She is survived by her husband, Leland of Vinton; her daughters, Debra (James) Fleming of Garrison, Rebecca (Richard) Mollenhauer of Central City, and Barbara (Tiger) Campbell of Vinton; her grandchildren, Sherri (Matt) Lampe of Garrison, Scott (Louise) Fleming of Mt. Auburn, Roni (Josh) Frye of Garrison, Jamee Campbell of Vinton, Kacie Campbell of Vinton, Drew Mollenhauer of Central City, and Lane Mollenhauer of Central City; her great-grandchildren, Christopher Fleming, Alana Fleming, Katelyn Fleming, and Elisabeth Lampe; and her sisters-in-law, Jean Byerly and Pam McGrane, and her brother-in-law, Ronald Gunn, all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
