Vinton—Robert Bush, age 82, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at his home while he was burning off his garden.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Prairie Creek Christian Church, rural Vinton, with Pastor Dennis Sackett officiating. Interment 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, IA, with Flag Presentation by the Iowa Military Funeral Honors Guard. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 at the church. The casket will remain closed.

Robert Francis Bush was born April 20, 1928 near Manchester, IA, to Elford and Irene (Besler) Bush. Bob attended country school at Dundee, Iowa. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and was stationed in Japan and Korea. He was a member of the Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post in Vinton.

On September 14, 1958 he married Evelyn Stinsell in Cedar Rapids. Bob worked for area farmers in Delaware, Buchanan and Benton Counties, retiring in 1992. Bob enjoyed gardening, repair work, tree trimming and deer hunting in his spare time. Bob enjoyed visiting with his many friends and was generous in sharing his venison and food from his garden.

He is survived by his son, Delbert (Khamvanh) Bush, Fayetteville NC; two sisters, Velma (Wayne) Bunting, Littleport, IA, and Gladys Mason, WY; and one brother, Marion (Pat) Bush, Fredericksburg, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn in 2010; daughter, Diana in 2007; and brothers, Donald, Duane and Howard Bush.

Memorials may be directed to the Prairie Creek Christian Church.
