Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Dysart United Methodist Church, with Rev. Linda Thompson officiating. Interment will be held at 1:15 PM at the Keystone Cemetery with graveside military rites. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time.
Darold was born on November 12, 1950, at the Cornbelt Hospital in Belle Plaine, the son of Claus and Rosella (Kuhl) Laackmann. He graduated from Benton Community High School and proudly served his Country in the Army Reserves from 1969 through 1973.
Darold took over farming on the Laackmann farm following his father's retirement.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Killgore of Cedar Rapids on November 3, 1990, at Tara Hills Country Club in rural Van Horne.
Darold was a member of the Merkel-Bockholt American Legion Post #107 for over 50 years and held various offices with the legion. He also belonged to the United Methodist Church in Dysart.
He enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada with his fishing buddies and also enjoyed bus trips for sightseeing. Darold and Ruth went to various farmers markets with their garden produce. He was so proud of his good-looking vegetables.
