Carroll Bruce Border Sr., 88, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away November 5, 2022, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA.

Service is 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2022, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service with Deacon Steve VanKerckvoorde officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine with military honors.

Carroll was born March 6, 1934, to William Bruce and Sarah Margery (Mumby) Border in Ladora, IA. He attended Belle Plaine Schools. On March 20, 1954, Carroll married Evelyn Woodworth in Missouri. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1961. Carroll worked for Amana Refrigeration for 25 years, before going to work for Fisher Control in Marshalltown, IA. Later he delivered meals for Belle Plaine Community Schools and taught Catechism at the First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine.

Carroll enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting squirrel, trapping, and gardening. He was a member of the Belle Plaine American Legion and First Lutheran Church.

Carroll is survived by his daughters, Carolyn (James) Kurovski, Deborah (John) Thys both of Belle Plaine; son, Carroll Bruce Border Jr. of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Kevin (Lindsey) Kurovski of Ft Jackson, SC, Brandon (Dana) Kurovski of Burlington, Ryan (Terra) Kurovski of Newton, Lauren (Nick) LeWarne of Ankeny, Shellby (Brandon) Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, Nicole (Aaron) Brady of Johnston, Elisabeth Border of Tuscon, AZ; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Mason, Eva, Mara, Vaida, Zyah, and Uriah Kurovski, Noraa Brady; sibling, Kathryn (Larry) Roth of Belle Plaine.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn (Woodworth) Border (2013), stillborn daughter, Linda; sisters, Opal VanKerckvoorde and Ruth Ann Springer; brothers-in-law, Frank VanKerckvoorde and Lewis Springer.
