CEDAR RAPIDS:
John "Jack" Snow, 78, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, May 15, 2011 at River Of Life Church in Cedar Rapids with Pastors Steve Irwin and Brian Fink officiating. Private Committal Services will be held at the Garrison Cemetery in Garrison with Graveside Military Rites conducted by Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post #57 of Vinton and Iowa Military Funeral Honors. Friends may call at the church in Cedar Rapids from 5 to 8 pm on Saturday. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Jack was born May 23, 1932 at Granada, MN to Earl and Fern (Wood) Snow. From 1950 to 1960 he served his nation in the US Air Force. He was a member of Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post #57 of Vinton.
On March 4, 1956 he was united in marriage to Kay Irwin at Garrison.
Jack was a draftsman at the former Hawkbilt in Vinton for many years. A member of the River Of Life Church, Jack served in various communities as part of his twenty-six year ministry. His ministry also included ministering to prisoners in Iowa and Texas where he was honored as Volunteer of the year in 2009. He was a "foster parent" to over thirty children and in his final days he ministered at local jails.
He is survived by his wife, Kay and his daughter, Melody Snow Iverson, both of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Hannah, Shelby, Hunter, and Tanner; one great-grandson, Nathan; and his sister, Judy (Bruce) Juhl of Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Kay Bryant in 1993.
