NEWHALL:

Tim F. Mehlert, 55, suffered fatal injuries in an accident at his residence on Wednesday, July 20, 2011.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with Rev. Mark Leckband officiating. Interment will be held at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 24th at the church in Newhall. A memorial Fund has been established.

Tim was born May 7, 1956 near Mt. Auburn to Delbert F. and Ruth (Poole) Mehlert and graduated from Vinton's Washington High School in 1974.

On February 12, 1977 he was united in marriage to Paula Kaestner in Newhall. Tim previously worked for Ideal Industries and farmed. For many years he worked hard and selflessly served his postal customers with loyalty. As a member of St. John Lutheran Church he served the Lord in many ways. Tim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He took great pleasure in participating in the Tractorcade with his father's Farmall M and hunting and fishing.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was an amazing man who will be missed by all.

Tim is survived by his wife, Paula of Newhall; his children, Barry (Isabel) Mehlert and their children, Rita, Becky and Eli of Las Cruces, NM, Becky (Grant) Schmitz and their children, Owen and Lily of LaPorte City, Chad (Cynda) Mehlert and their child, Jaxson of Vinton and Allan (Elizabeth Wordehoff) Mehlert of Atkins; his mother, Ruth Mehlert of Vinton; his siblings, Bruce (Jodi) Mehlert of Mt. Auburn, Larry (Deb) Mehlert of LaPorte City, and Brenda (Kevin) Boddicker of Luana; and many nieces and nephews.

His father, Delbert Mehlert preceded him in death.
