VINTON: Vicki Maye Schuelka, 59, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton following an extended illness.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2011 at Phillips Family Center, 605 2nd Ave. in Vinton, with Pastor Mark C. Urlaub officiating. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the Family Center from 10 a.m until service time on Friday. A memorial fund has been established.

Vicki Maye Tharp was born October 26, 1951 to Lois Tharp in Vinton where she attended school. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #57 of Vinton.

On June 10, 1973, she was united in marriage to John Henry Schuelka, Jr. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2004.

Vicki is survived by her Mom, Lois Tharp of Vinton; her children, John (Shelly) Schuelka, III of Waterloo, Jamie (Sonja) Schuelka of Garrison, Jason (Jodi) Schuelka of Vinton, and Jolene Schuelka (James Davis) of Vinton; sixteen grandchildren; four sisters, Sandy Dvorak , Carla Kearns, Paula Tharp and Debra Wheeler, all of Vinton; and three brothers, Ronnie (Darlene) Tharp of Denison, TX, Denny (Pam) Tharp and Billy (Susan) Tharp, all of Vinton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Johnnie Tharp and her grandparents.

sj December 28, 2012, 1:35 am I\'ve looked at this many times since I found this out haven\'t had the guts to post anything up until now. She was like another grandma to me and I\'m sorry and very much so guilty to miss her funeral I feel some people may never forgive me for that and all I can do is hope for forgiveness she was a great women and another grandmother to me and I miss her lots along with her family and hope everyone in that family is doing okay I\'m very sorry for her loss especially not seeing her or her family because of insufficient funds and problems with my family I love you and your family I think about all of you and hope you all can forgive me especially Bethany and her mother and Bethany\'s siblings. You are in my thoughts and prayers I hope you all can forgive me if you know who this is and hope life is okay with you all and life will always be good to you all and it\'s always good to you.
