Vinton—Ruby Naomi Grimm Reeves, age 91, died Thursday, December 01, 2011 at the Vinton Lutheran Home from complications of age.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vinton with Pastor Mark C. Urlaub officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Ruby was born March 5, 1920 in Garrison, IA, the daughter of William and Fannie Nelson Grimm. She was raised and attended school in Garrison. On March 26, 1946 she married Raymond “Jack” Reeves in Dysart. Ruby and Jack lived in Garrison and Vinton and Ruby worked as a clerk at La Grange Drugstore for many years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Vinton Eagle’s Club. In her spare time she enjoyed square dancing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Deena (Dan) Reeves Kuempel, Cedar Rapids; grandson Andy (Sara) Kuempel, Marion; granddaughter, Caitie Kuempel, Iowa City; one sister, Marlys Higdon, Vinton and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on January 19, 2010; six brothers and three sisters.
A memorial fund has been established.
