VINTON: Jack L. Spencer, 75, died Wednesday evening, December 21, 2011 at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following an extended illness.

Public Visitation will be held from non to 2 p.m., on Tuesday, December 27.2011 at Phillips Family Cente, 605 2nd Avenue in Vinton.Private Committal Services will be held at the Garrison Cemetery in Garrison with Military Rites conducted by Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post #57 of Vinton.

Jack was born July 12, 1936 at Garrison to Arlie and Wilma (Turner) Spencer.Following graduation from high school he served his nation in the US Army from 1955 to 1958.

Jack is survived by his mother, Wilma Spencer of Vinton; his daughter, Marcy Hanson of Vinton; his sons, Faaron Spencer of Marion and Clayton Spencer of Altoona, PA; his grandsons, Rily and Kyle Hanson; and his brother, Tom (Lorene) Spencer of Vinton.

He was preceded in death by his father; his son, Mitchell, and his brother, Bill.

A Memorial Fund has been established.
