GARRISON:
Jim E. Doud, 77, of Waterloo and formerly of Garrison, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer following an extended illness.
A visitation and celebration of Jim's life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St., in Vinton. Private Committal Services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Jim was born December 7, 1934 in Ottumwa to Glen Denney and Fern Lucille (Pearson) Doud. He married Shirley Pelley on February 18, 1955 in Vinton. They were later divorced. He married Donita Ward on June 11, 1983 in Vinton. She preceded him in death.
He owned and operated Jim's Hitchin' Post in Garrision. He enjoyed playing golf, umpiring and watching sports of all types.
Jim is survived by his children, Kristin (John) Holst of Vinton, Kevin (Wendy) Doud of Ames, and Kerry (Michael) Less of Van Horne; a step-daughter, Debra (James) Ehlers of Park City, KS; six grandchildren, Vanessa and Kristopher Doud, Kaitlin Holst Hammel, Molly Holst, Brittney Langston, and Lindsey Less. three great grandchildren, Scottie Peterson, Grace Ott, and Caleb Langston. and numerous step grandchildren and step-great grandchildren
In addition to his parents and wife, Donita, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Province.
