Mildred Louise Van Hoeck, 92, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown, with Pastor David Rempfer officiating. Interment will be held at the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday.
Mildred was born June 4, 1919, in rural Marengo, the daughter of Harry and Jessie (Kimm) Wolf. On Nov. 29, 1949, she was united in marriage to Amiel Van Hoeck at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. Mildred and Amiel made their home in rural Marengo and farmed there until he passed away in 1963. Amiel and Mildred were blessed with a son, Frank, on April 23, 1953. Mildred cared for Frank until his death in 1993.
Mildred enjoyed working in food service at various local restaurants and retired from the Big G grocery store in Marengo.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown.
Mildred is survived by her adopted son, Dan Nolte, and his family.
Mildred was a dear, sweet woman who was loved dearly by her friends and neighbors.
A memorial fund has been established.
