God called Gloria Jean McElroy home on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Her beautiful life began on September 2, 1949, in Vinton, Iowa.
Gloria was a sales consultant for State Beauty Supply and a member Rolling Hills Christian Church.
On September 8, 1967, she married John L. McElroy in Vinton, Iowa. He survives. She is also survived by her daughters, Heather R. Garey of Topeka and Meagan M. (Marty) Nozzarella of Chesapeake, VA; her mother, Helen J. Collins of Davenport, IA; four sisters, Linda Lovell of Killeen, TX, Carol Berger of Vinton, IA, Kathleen Shadrick of Cedar Rapids, IA and Teresa (Eric) Court of Davenport, IA; and five grandchildren, Chandler, Nicole, Rachel, Joel-David and Sarayah. She was preceded in death by her fathers, Ray Gaddy and Richard Collins, grandson, Noah Garey and son-in-law, Mark Garey.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m.on Saturday, May 12 at the Penwell-Gabel - Southwest Chapel. Burial will follow in the Penwell-GabelCemetery. Gloria will lie in state after 3:00 p.m.on Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.until 8:00 p.m.
