SHELLSBURG: Lois A. Mott, 79, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness.

A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Ardel Barta as Celebrant. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. A Scripture Service will begin at 7 p.m. A Memorial Fund has been established.

Lois was born January 5, 1933 in Wyoming, IA to Wilke and Elma (Streeper) Husmann and graduated from the Wyoming High School in 1950.

On May 12, 1951 she married James Mott, Sr. at the Little Brown Church in Nashua and the couple moved to Shellsburg in 1969. Her husband preceded her in death on July 30, 1997.

Lois was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton.

She is survived by her son, Jim (Meri) Mott of Shellsburg; her daughters, Jean (Gary) Hekel of Shellsburg and JoAnn (Todd) Hepker of Vinton; her grandchildren, Chris (Lori) Mott of Shellsburg, Angie (Jeff) Johnson of Vinton, Ken Mott of Shellsburg, Nicki (Rob) Ott of Vinton, Kim (Dan) Williams of Bartonville, IL, Sarah (Marc) Smith of Urbana, and Michael Hepker of Vinton; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed (Sherrill) Husmann of Robins, and Alva (Jeanette) Husmann of Wyoming; and five sisters, Velma (Don) Jensen of Olin, Velda Halloman of Maquoketa, Lucille Lund and Helen Christiansen both of Wyoming, and Betty (Craig) Ham of Ogallala, NE.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two infant sons; and her brothers, Robert and Ernie Husmann.
