The Vinton-Shellsburg baseball team advanced in post-season play, defeating Williamsburg, 6-5 in a come-from-behind road win.
Down 5 to 1 after the second inning, the Vikings tied the game in the fifth then took the lead in the seventh.
Freshman Scottie Wirth pitched the first five innings; sophomore Tyler Rippel earned the win, pitching hitless sixth and seventh innings.
On June 9, the Raiders hosted the Vikings in regular season action and swept them in a double-header, 11-1 in each game.
The Vikings advance in District 9 action to play another team that swept them in the regular season, Clear Creek-Amana. That game takes place at 7 p.m. Monday, also in Williamsburg.
In District 10 first-round games, Center Point-Urbana lost to Solon and Benton Community lost to Washington.
The District 9 and 10 winners will play Wednesday night in Solon; the winner of that game advances to the State Tournament.C

In the top of the 6th, Aaron Henderson lead off with a double, Tyler Rippel singled to put runners on 1st and 3rd when Scottie Wirth had a 2 run RBI triple...which made it 5-3. Next, Logan Davis had a ground out to 3rd which scored courtesy runner Conner Miracle to cut the deficit to 5-4. Nathan Struve kept the inning alive by hitting a 2 out single to right field and pinch runner Connor Bendull scored on Quinton Guenther's RBI double to tie the game.
Williamsburg threaten in the bottom of the 7th inning, by getting runners on 1st and 2nd by an error and a walk, but Nathan Struve recorded the final out by catching a tough fly ball in short right field to start the upset victory celebration . Tyler Rippel gets the win in relief.
