Sports : Football camp, practice remind players of V-S goal: Post-season

More than 120 young players attended the Football Camp last week.

This football reminds Vikings and future Vikings of past successes and future goals and potential.

Coach Farley and the VS Vikings began football practice with the goal of returning to play-offs.

More than 120 young athletes joined the Vinton-Shellsburg High School football players during Football Camp last week. At the end of the camp, players received T-shirts. A special black and gold football on display on the table with the T-shirts reminded the players that the Vikings made the playofffs in 2000 and again in 2009.  Coach Patrick Farley and his assistants are now leading the Vikings in the second day of football practice as the team seeks to return to the post-season for a second straight year.

The Vikings begin their season Friday, Aug. 27, at home against neighbor and rival Benton Community.

Sept. 24, vs. Marion

Oct. 1, at Anamosa
