Sports : Fareway fund-raiser helps youth football programs

Youth football players serve lunch at Fareway Saturday for fund-raiser.

More than 50 football players helped with the event.

Dozens of young football players in grades 4-6 served lunch at Fareway on Saturday to raise funds for equipment and other expenses for their youth football teams.

The Vikings in grades 4-6 play in the Metro league, competing against teams from other area cities, including Cedar Rapids. But all of the money raised Saturday goes to the local teams.

Fareway donated the space and food items and the players and their families cooked and served the meal.
