Sports : Vikings take 3rd, Vikettes 6th at season-opening cross country meet

The 2015 cross country season began Tuesday in Mount Vernon, where the Vinton-Shellsburg boys and girls competed with several teams. 

Viking sophomore Cole Tharp led his team with a 10th-place time of 17:50. For the girls, freshman Grace Horst led V-S with a 14th-place time of 22:22. 

The Vikings finished third in team scoring; the Vikettes were 6th.
