Sports : Three Vikings at 39 in home meet win over Independence

The VS Viking golf team defeated Independence Thursday 158-171 at the Vinton County Club.  It was a beautiful afternoon on the course, but the golfers did have to take into account the wind, which was a factor on a couple holes. 

Austin Bohnsack was the medalist carding a 39.  Mike DeLong was the runner-up medalist also carding a 39.  There was a card-back to determine the medals between Austin, Mike, and Tyler Stueck who also carded a 39.  Other Varsity scores were: Bryce Shaw 41, Tanner Cummings 44, and Grant Noren 45.

The Vikings JV squad played as well carding 190. David Bray led the way carding a 40.  Other JV scores were: Kyle Jorgenson 48, Barrett Shaw 51, and Trey Rouse 51.  The Vikings travel to Waverly Saturday for a tournament and then to Williamsburg on Monday joined there by Clear Creek-Amana and Marion.
